Organic or Just Business
Organic food really is everywhere and in great demand. But what does this label really mean? It means that no chemical treatments must be used, no chemical fertilizers or chemical products must be used in cultivation, and the soil in which the food is grown must not be contaminated. But we will pay a hefty price for this.
Whether organic foods are superior to conventional foods has long been studied by scientists, with mixed results. So let\’s first look at the amount of substances that are good for you and should be present in these foods. However, determining this factor is very difficult for several reasons. It depends on the time period in which the food was grown and the quality of the local soil.
Another important factor is the weather and the time of harvest. All these factors are reasons why scientists\’ results differ. Indeed, some studies have shown, for example, higher concentrations of vitamin C and zinc. On the other hand, some studies have shown that the content is comparable to that of regular foods.
What can be demonstrated, however, is that no chemical sprays or other products are used that guarantee maximum size and yield. By regulation, these substances are not allowed in organic foods. Organic farms fertilize with urea, manure, and compost. However, do not assume that the animals do not receive a variety of vaccinations and medications. The only difference is that the medications must be given at longer intervals. Also, animals should be kept outdoors where they can eat fresh grass.
Organic foods are especially suitable for pregnant mothers for whom a good diet is important for the proper development of the baby. Nevertheless, it is important to note that this labeling is often misleading. Vendors label their foods this way even though their products have nothing to do with ecology. This tactic is often used by suppliers who purchase eggs from Polish wholesalers or genetically modified foods. So make sure you are a known producer, not a scammer.
