Worried that people will no longer need each other …
Worried and concerned that people won\’t need each other anymore. Do you think that is a false idea? Why, because that has been the case for the past year. Relationships are truncated, pruned without the possibility of grafting, and the branches of life slowly wither and shrivel.
What about nature, the tree and its truncated branches? In order for a tree to continue to grow and not become exhausted, it must heal its wounds. Otherwise, the tree will wither and decay. This is exactly what happened to our souls in the age of the coronavirus, which has come to be known as the Ice Age. And this concept is not so far removed from the notion of cold and alienation.
We are forcibly separated from our families, especially grandmothers and grandfathers, and children are isolated in homes with no access to schools or kindergartens. Parents remained at home with their children, teaching and supervising online schooling. Alternatively, other parents began working from home, making the home office a highly sought after item by the government.
Governments have even gone so far as to directly require employers to have their subordinates work from home whenever possible,
so that employees do not gather in the office, meet in the hallway, or greet each other with a handshake for goodness sake.
Our sick and relatives who live in nursing homes and boarding houses, sometimes for their entire lives, or the handicapped who live in hospitals and asylums – we could not even visit them on a regular basis. Few of these people or the elderly have smart phones or computer technology. Thanks to them, we can “visit” each other through well-known online programs. Or, we are not technologically savvy. Many grandfathers and grandmothers are content to be able to call their daughters and grandchildren by pressing the familiar push phone area code. Hopefully, however, calls to nursing homes and similar facilities are more likely to flow from children to their parents and grandparents.
What do you think?
