Democracy, because there is nothing good yet
On the 11th of this year, we celebrated 30 years since the democratization of Czech society. In 1989, Czechoslovakia\’s communist system was finally overthrown. During the demonstration, there was a confrontation with the public security of the time, but people were no longer afraid to express their opinions and wanted change. They wanted an end to censorship, free speech, free elections, etc. Today we have all these, but our country has a large
in the past 30 years we have participated in a total of 9 House elections, every 2 years the district has definitely elected new senators and 2 times elected presidents by direct elections. It\’s a good idea. So we can say that whatever happens in domestic politics is the result of the choice of citizens. But this is very accurate. First of all, we need to ask ourselves whether our citizens are ready for the passage of society. It only takes a few months for people to realize that something is wrong and the revolution will begin. Then it will take several years to create a new law and implement its principles, but it can take decades for citizens to get used to the analogues of a new life.
Winston Churchill once said:“Democracyis the worst form of government, except for everything else we\’ve tried.”Anyone can take this quote in their own way. But we can then infer that in all state institutions, even liberal ones, there is certainly a threat. In the case of democracy, it is certainly a lack of information, perhaps a lack of teaching of civic doctrine and history (especially modern history) in schools. Every 4 years, when new elections to the House of Commons are held, we have more and more political parties and movement options. For those who are not very interested in politics, it must be very difficult to choose a candidate. So he can not be sure that he will choose exactly according to his values.
The only thing that can benefit society is the initiative of citizens. Politicians who don\’t listen to people are not good politicians. Let us all do more to ensure that democracy is not a threat to us. To live there and learn that will be a matter of course for future generations. Let\’s repeat the history, because it is something that should not be forgotten.
