How do I organize my refrigerator?
The refrigerator is undoubtedly a great helper in the home. However, if you are in the habit of putting groceries in the refrigerator without thinking, you are making a big mistake! Because if you don\’t put the food in correctly, it will start spoiling unnecessarily fast. Not all foods reach the same temperature in the refrigerator, so if they are placed incorrectly, they will not only spoil faster, but they will also lose their nutritional value. Each compartment corresponds to a slightly different temperature range, and these are the optimal temperatures for each type of food.
1. Top
Cooked foods, salads, cold cuts, eggs, cheese and spreads should be placed here.
2. Middle
Dairy products (cottage cheese, cream, butter) should be placed in this area. In a warm environment, they will sour quickly; in a cold environment, they will lose their flavor.
3. Downstairs
Vegetables and fruits should be placed on the first floor in deep storage areas (drawers). However, do not put them in plastic bags; choose paper bags. Note that not all fruits and vegetables will fit in the refrigerator. Tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, bananas, etc. should be placed in the pantry.
Any other rules to follow?
Few foods are good to keep in the refrigerator for long. The taste, nutritional value, and shelf life will change. For example, fresh meat should not be kept in the refrigerator for more than two days , and fresh meat should not be kept in the refrigerator for longer than two days . Be aware of cross-contamination and contaminationof foods. Particular attention should be paid to contact between raw meat and cooked foods. Salmonellosis is truly disgusting.
Cheese and cold cuts can also be stored separately to preserve flavor and aroma. If meat, fish, or cold cuts are purchased, they should be placed in the refrigerator as soon as possible. Of course, the same applies to frozen foods, which ideally should not be left to thaw and then refrozen.
